Avoid these traps

Malaysians who start to venture into Internet marketing are advised to be aware of the many traps laying ahead of you.

Take it slow, don't rush. Look before you leap. I know everybody is eager to make lots and lots of money online, as advertised by Internet marketers before you.

Here are some very real dangers of conducting business on the Internet, discovered by me through painful experience.

(1)Set a limit on the amount which you can afford and are prepared to invest in your Internet business. This is ultra important, if you don't do this you will be sucked into the black hole of Internet marketing. Most Internet marketers will first lure you in by giving you some useful small tips, advice or tools which a beginner will find useful. Once the trust is established they will start to sell you more and more expensive stuff. They first present you with a system or plan or blue print, whatever, then they will smartly embed their products in the system or blue print. Once you join the course, you will be offered tools and software along the way in order to make the blue print a success. If you don't purchase, then you failed because you don't follow instructions, not the fault of the blue print or the mentor.
On the other hand,if you follow every word they said, then you will wonder when will all these end, and when will you begin to see money rolling in as promised? Well, the answer is very simple, it will end when your credit cards are maxed out and when you have use every single cent in your saving. But the money will not start rolling in.

(2)Do not accept free trials. These offers will be purposely made into CDs or DVDs so that you have to pay for shipping charges in order for the products to be shipped to you, you will have to provide you credit card details for this purpose. The shipping cost is normally set very low and most people will not think twice before paying. But don't be so happy first, the condition of the free trial is that you have to return the products within 14 days. After 14 days no refund will be entertained, and your credit card will be charged with the full amount. Most people will not be able to examine the product before 14 days date line, especially for oversea buyers, the delivery will normally take longer than that. That is not all, there is a clause in very fine print at the bottom, which says you will receive similar CDs/DVDs every month and your credit card will be charged recurring. Of course, you can cancel, but how long does it take? Your emails to terminate will not reach the marketers for some strange reason.
Some time you can flush them out by going to as many forums as possible to expose them, then they will reluctantly contact you. But you have already raked up a huge bill by then. One more strange thing is the banks which issued the credit cards refused to stop payment to subscriptions or recurring payment. Why? The only resort is to cut the card and throw it back at them, and they will muse." this is the correct way to handle it!"

(3) Another twist to the above method is the marketers will ask you to pay just $1, that's right, one US dollar. But to pay even $1, you still have to give the full details of your credit card. If you are lured by the offer and pay the one dollar, you will be going through the same ordeal as mentioned above.

There are many more traps on the Internet marketing arena, but I will leave it the next post.
